Amalgam Studio is at the heart of Beirut’s dance and performing arts scene, supporting artistic creation, experimental research and innovative work in movement, contemporary dance, and physical theatre.
We nurture artistic creation through five complementary pillars: accessible classes and workshops, immersive residencies, mentorship programs, encounters connecting the local with the international, and opportunities for artists to present their work to the public.
Amalgam Studio was founded in 2015 by choreographer Yara Boustany, who continues as the studio’s Artistic Director, Racha Baroud joined the core team in 2019, followed by Farah F. Naboulsi in 2022.
Missions:
Offer accessible learning: Regular classes and workshops at affordable prices, open to all.Create a nurturing space: A safe, fully equipped environment for artistic residencies, rehearsals, and experimentation.
Mentoring programs: Programs designed to inspire artistic creation and support the next generation of artists.
Cultivate exchange and collaboration: Encouraging encounters between local and international artists, sparking new ideas and partnerships.
Showcase artistic work: Providing platforms and opportunities for artists to present their creations to the public.
- A space where body and voice are freed from social constructs, where artistic creation expands beyond limits, and where artists find home within community, dancing their imagination -
