Residency Programs
Research Residencies at Amalgam (2023 - Present)
Since 2023, Amalgam Studio has been hosting a Research Residency, a space for artists to dedicate themselves fully to research without the expectation of producing a final outcome. The residency supports experimentation and exploration, allowing ideas to develop freely.
With the support of The Dance Movement (Holland) and Sharon Mansur – The Cedar Tree Project (USA), the residency has had three editions so far:
2025
Lama Al-Amine, Sara Al-Moneem, Seba Kourani, Sara Mashmoushy, Khalil Hajj Ali, Omar Bakeer, Yasser Khattab, and Rayan Hibta.
2024
Yal Solan, Rana Al Baba
2023
Yara el Khoury, Natasha Karam, Elie Mouhanna
The residency focuses on process rather than production, giving artists the time and space to deepen their research without external demands.
Co-Labs Residency Program (2021)
Co-Labs is a residency program initiated in collaboration with Maqamat, supported by AFAC (Arab Fund for Arts and Culture), and Mawred Al Thaqafy (Culture Resource). The program was open to artists from all disciplines—photographers, writers, theater makers, architects, musicians, dancers, choreographers, filmmakers, set designers, and others—interested in working within the performing arts. It provided an intensive, one-month environment where these artists could come together to collaborate and explore the intersections of their diverse practices.
The three selected projects developed during this residency were:
The Unhearable Voices – A video by Racha Baroud, Nader Bahsoun, and Charbel Haber
Pina, My Love – A performance by Bassam Abou Diab, Ayman Sameer Sleiman, and Karam Abu-Ayash
ARTITECTURE – A site-specific performance by Eliesh and Mi
At the end of the residency, the projects were showcased at a special presentation during the Bipod Festival 2022, offering an opportunity for the artists to share their work with the broader local and international artistic community.
